Yep it's been a minute... I've been trying new crafts(of course) going through life one day at a time. I won't bore you with all the details.

At the moment I'm debating deleting all the old blog posts and starting fresh - what do you think? I deleted a couple already but figured I'd stop... maybe someone actually likes reading this junk!

Nowadays, I sell Scentsy(https://brigette.scentsy.us), I still try to crochet, I've been macrameing glass bottles, and last night I came up with my very own homemade blacklight chalk after an unsuccessful search for a recipe or tutorial!

If I decide to stick with this, it will be for tutorials/recipes/self promotion. Give me your opinion on old posts - keep or go?

I'm about to go try out the chalk and see how it writes.

Happy Late Thanksgiving

I know it's late but Happy late Thanksgiving. It was so crazy around here and I was so stressed and busy with so much to do and on my plate that I didn't even have time to THINK about blogging.

It's been a rough week though, that's for sure... extreme depression problems have popped up again, I was reminded why men are total and utter disgusting pigs, I didn't get much crafting done, but on the upside I was told my pie was amazing on Wednesday's Pie Night(what's pie night? exactly that... a night where you eat PIES) and was even told to make another to go with Thanksgiving dinner. So I did and was told it was amazing again. It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

It wasn't anything special, just a chocolate banana cream pie. Sounds special, sure, but all I did was a graham cracker crust -

crush 18 graham cracker halves finely, add 1/4 C. sugar, I like to shake them up in the same bag to get them mixed up really good, then I dump the crumbs into the pie pan and add 1/2 C melted butter or margarine and form a crust in the pan. The crust needs to chill for about 45 minutes.

The filling was just jello chocolate pudding mix, made according to pudding directions with 2 1/2 C milk instead of 3 C milk to make it thicker, then I sliced bananas into the pudding and folded them in BEFORE putting the filling into the crust. This seemed to give the chocolate pudding a more chocolate banana flavor.

With the bananas, I didn't do a certain amount... I did as many as I thought looked good. The first night it was 3, the second night it was 4. BUT the first night I had 1 big banana and 2 small ones. The second night was 4 small ones.

You can do whipped cream for the topping, either reddi-whip or frozen whipped topping, but I didn't have any on hand so I just crushed one more graham cracker and made pretty designs(a swirl night 1, and random curvy lines night 2 - pretty much wherever bananas were peeking through the pudding).

For Thanksgiving I also did Stuffing Stuffed Mushrooms(rachel ray recipe, it's on her site or you can google it and it'll be the first link.) I also did green bean casserole. That recipes is on the back of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup cans, and many other variations etc googled.

The brown clothes I made for my kids were a big hit at Pie Night, and dd wore the orange fringed dress on Thanksgiving.

Anyway, like I said I didn't get much crafting done this week, but last week I did get a bunch of pendants made and they are now listed in my etsy shop.

I made the pillowcase dress on my dd:

And then after watching me make a pillow cover and the pillowcase dress, DS wanted something too! AND he wanted it to match! SO I made him a matching vest! These are pretty much their Pie Night outfits, minus the bright orange shirt underneath the white shirt for DD, some leggings instead of jeans for DD, and minus the Spiderman slippers for DS(hopefully). I wanted to do long sleeved shirts for both of them but do you think I can find them? NO! DD threw a FIT when I took the dress off her to save it for Pie Night - I'm thinking more to come for her- she loves it! Maybe I'll try to let her choose the next fabric lol. DS even wants me to make more "jackets" for him.

And last but not least, here's a silly face my DD has started doing out of the blue, about 2 days ago.

I don't know exactly how long it's been since I did an update... too long, that's for sure. About 2 weeks it looks like...

Anyway, I don't know where to even start. My daughter has been sick, with what, I'm not sure but she has a runny nose, a cough, sounds froggy, and the last couple nights has been throwing up milk. So no more milk for bed.

I've been trying to get the house cleaned up and caught up and kept caught up - I know one of my husband's biggest pet peeves with me and my little quirks is my inability to clean house... ok so maybe it's not an inability, just an extreme dislike. And laziness... BUT I am working on it and it does seem to be even helping our relationship. So far I've kept the kids room clean and caught up *wonder of wonders!!!* Today I plan to get our bedroom worked on, more laundry done, and one of the bathrooms... of course, now that I've said what I plan to do it probably won't happen.

My computer crashed last Sunday so that was frustrating and upsetting... we had to reinstall XP and totally wipe out EVERYTHING - it wouldn't repair. Stupid technology... BUT it got rid of a lot of crap on my comp I didn't really know what to do with. Luckily I had gotten most of the pictures of the kids off the computer and onto cd. There were just a couple of new ones, maybe 5, that hurt to lose cause they were so dadgum cute... but oh well. Can't do anything about it.

The downside of this is I can't find half of my software cds... I don't have sound on my computer at the moment cause I don't know where that disc went...

In the way of Etsy, I do have a bunch of new items and will be adding more! Among the new items, my mom has done some more toddler and baby socks! We now have 18-36 month socks and 0-6 month socks. There's a sampling and a link in my widgets to the right!

One other new item, contributed by my sister, is duct tape wallets and soon belts. I don't have them listed yet - she won't call me back... grr... BUT they are coming soon. So keep an eye out! These aren't just the regular old gray/silver duct tape wallets and belts - she has all sorts of funky colors - I'll post later with exactly what colors. She also can do up to 4 pockets on the inside - like the card pockets we all stash our business cards/credit cards/etc into. It's amazing! She even does a driver's license window! I can't wait to get the pictures up cause the description gets lots in translation.

She's already gotten a lot of custom orders at school - some from repeat customers buying for other people! And one of my dad's friends even ordered one for his son and another one for his niece! I even plan to get a wallet for me and belts for my kids. Maybe a belt for me after the baby's born...

All of the profit from the wallets and belts go towards the student ambassador program she got into. She's going to Europe next year/summer.... and yes, she loves to rub it in my face. She's going to the places I want to visit most in the world - England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. Jerk. I'm proud of her though.

Anyway, also going into my store soon as I get better pictures is some more pendants and some earrings.... but not my usual... The earrings are in a new style of my own design. At least, I didn't use any kind of reference for them. I just thought they would look cool... BUT not only that, the pendants and earrings will be in a set! I should have some chain coming soon(I hope!!!) that will be included as well!

And last but not least, some destash items will be added.

OK so, in the way of PROJECTS - I signed up for free sewing lessons on about.com and have made a pillow cover - I have the next one in the works, but need to find my sewing macine manual... I made a pillowcase dress for my daughter to match some clippies from SMOX and it turned out DARLING! A lot better than I thought it would be lol...

After my son watched me make the first pillow cover and the pillowcase dress, he wanted something too! So I got a vest pattern and am making him a vest to match!

Ok so am I the only one that hates to buy one pattern and massacre it just for ONE size??? I HATE it! So, what I did with this vest pattern is traced through the tissue with a permanent market onto poster board and it worked out pretty good!! Not only that, but it used up some of the scrap posterboard I had left over from my pillow patterns, and the cutouts will be more durable and last longer than the tissue! AND I can reuse the patterns on the tissue if/when I need/want to do another size! Wish I had done this with my renaissance dress patterns....

So I have the pattern pieces cut out, next I need to cut out the cloth and put it together! Sounds easier than it actually is - the kids like to crowd me whenever I pull out something to work on. So I'm thinking about tracing out some of the pattern pieces of my stuffed dragon patterns! After all, my dad did challenge me and said he would be impressed if I could even make one... so naturally I HAVE to rise to that challenge... I should have picked up some polyfil though while I was at walmart last night... not that I need it yet so we're safe.

On another note, my Cafemom Etsy Moms Team is doing a secret santa type thing... and I have no idea whatsoever what I would do for the child one! I don't do kid stuff - yet... though the pillowcase dress was super fun to make... but that's Cozycabinmom's thing! I would feel bad... oo Maybe I can do pillow cases! Hmm... I don't know! I'll have to think on it...

So now that I've given you a novel to read... I think I'm all out of ramblings so I'll let you go now! Besides, the kids are getting fussy... (I mentioned chores....)

Ok... finally! New stuff and an update!

Ok ladies, gents, beans, folks, etc etc... It's here! An update with pics of new items! So.. tada!! These aren't listed on Etsy *YET* I wanted some feedback first. First up is a new pendant!

Garnet and Pearls with an cherub/angel chillin in the middle.(chain not included.)

My first beaded ornament cover! Success!! Purple rainbow finish seed beads with Amethyst accents at the bottom. I like how this turned out, but as it was from a pattern I'm excited to do my own, of which I already have some growing in my head!

And now, my Mom's new items! She's been working on these this last week, said I could choose a pair to keep, but I can't decide! So I photoed all of them. I want to list these on Etsy, they're toddler size, 18-36 mo. but she'll be doing baby size soon.

The purple eyelash ones will be the only ones that can be customized with any color, the others will be OOAK(one of a kind) or as many made as bead supply allows.

Next to the purple eyelashes, Mother of Pearl stars. More shapes to come!

In the next row is my mom's solution to not being able to find those little metal coins ANYWHERE anymore - round shell pieces, metal beads, and clear threepoint beads.

And in the last row, we have a christmas special sock! Green bells, green donuts, and red beads make me think of holly berries!

And now for an update on my life. Been feeling down, but yesterday was my birthday. All I did yesterday was... NOTHING!! WOOHOO! oh wait... laundry... but it was still a pretty chill day. Which was exactly what I wanted. Later in the afternoon we went to our friends' house and watched their landlord try to blow up the house and us with it while trying to light the fireplace... Then we went to my parents' and took the kids to spend the night(when we got there it was too dark to see their new llamas), then went to dinner at Red Lobster to use a gift card I had gotten through MyPoints. When we got home, we went straight to bed. Honest.

And today I finally pulled out my camera charger(obviously) and I made a Better than sex cake and have yet to find out how it turned out. I'm trying to hold off until dinner at my grandma's. Not sure if she did a cake or not but we'll see! So that's pretty much the rundown. Now I feel like I can move on!

1. I got shot in the eye with a dry ice cannon in high school but am totally fine(now). (really long story!!)

2. I have a problem with crafts... I'm addicted to learning new things and pile up the new projects until I overwhelm myself... not necessarily good, but I have a lot of skills to go back on :D

3. I love outdoing my male cousins and proving them wrong when I can just because they're such jerks... I went golfing once with my grandpa, uncle, and 3 male cousins and outgolfed all 3 of the cousins. My grandpa was impressed... he was also impressed when I was willing and more than able to clean out fish. My dad and sisters and I have also set up our old army tent(one of the huge ones) by ourselves, just us girls, without the help of the cousins, whereas they sat on their butts while their dad tried to do it himself... this was all years ago, except the fish cleaning one, before I had kids and was in some kind of shape lol.

4. I'm very opinionated in some things and can say my piece about whatever it is, as long as it's in writing or typing. If it's face to face, I hate confrontation and tend to let myself get interrupted and pushed to the background of the conversation. I'm working on that one...

5. I hate cities! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a LOT of land somewhere, maybe far far away, build a house if there's not one already, and just hermitize myself and my family there while we grow our own garden and do whatever we want without the worry of neighbors. I would also love it if my family(mom,dad, sisters, brothers) moved with us, and we've talked about actually doing it.

6. For the most part I learn by listening - 9 times out of 10 someone asks a question I have in my head anyway or someone answers my questions just by talking. I hate putting myself out there and feeling stupid with stupid questions.

7. I can't listen to country music anymore - I used to love it but there's too many songs that make me cry now and with me being as emotional as I am nowadays, I'd be crying all the time.

Still Down

I haven't gotten anywhere near getting anything done yet... No pictures of anything yet - I can't find my camera battery charger but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in my boxes from our trip to Park City.

On the upside, I did figure out the ornament cover and *should* be finishing it when my daughter decides to take a nap today. Hopefully soon... both of the kids have had cold medicine today for their ickynose colds and coughs and maybe they'll both take naps. I think I'm being a little too optimistic on that one though.

I also got some fabric last night to start a Thanksgiving dress for my daughter. I don't think this one will be as fancy as I want to do the Christmas one, but we'll see how this one turns out first... I also got a starter crochet kit.... I think I have a problem... I'm beginning to think I'm addicted to crafts.

So it seems the hot topic of the week is the elections... my take on this is I think waaaay too many people voted for the wrong reasons, one that had NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE ELECTIONS!!! For example... about 90% of the people I personally have talked to and met that voted for obama only voted for him because he was 1. Black. and 2. "hot"*gag* I personally don't see that one... but I've never been big on black guys...

Come on people, you're voting for the future of your nation. If you're going to vote, vote for the ISSUES that are going to be best for our country and vote for the candidate you think will be BEST for the nation, not the one that is the youngest, oldest, blackest, whitest, best looking, ugliest, whatever.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the nation and those that voted for obama just because he's black and "good looking". This isn't elementary school. (Please note, I said those that voted for him JUST BECAUSE of those reasons...) Kudos to anyone that voted for him for real reasons.

Personally, being a military wife and in a military family, I am dreading these next four years. We will just have to wait and see what happens. Good luck to you all and here's to hoping "we" didn't just screw "ourselves" over. (don't we hope that with every new president?)

And now I go to check the mail then put both kids down for a nap...

PS - just because "your" candidate won, you don't have to be a dick about it. The only reason I say this is because one of my husband's friends was WAY over the top with it and said some disgusting things to me about it and was gloating way worse than anyone I've ever met. Needless to say I'm not talking to him for a while now until he can cool off and let his hardon for "his" candidate go away...

Under the weather...

Ugh... Loooong night last night, early wake up, noisy kids today, kids fighting... I'm feeling so under the weather today I can't get anything done.. I've been trying to work on a christmas ornament cover and all it's doing is making my headache worse. I can't seem to get the loops to line up right... so I'm setting this project aside until I can concentrate and actually count the beads like i need to. some good string would help too... and less noisy kids.. they're on a screaming kick today for some reason.

UGH I can't even get myself to list my new items or post them on here. It doesn't help that my camera is dead now... I think i'm going to try to lay down for a bit. Maybe my daughter will lay down with me and quiet down her screaming.

I'll try to play catch up later tonight or tomorrow...

New Stuff!

One of my project goals before Halloween was that I wanted to make a beaded spider web. I googled it for patterns and there was, surprisingly enough, NOTHING! So I wracked my brains for ideas on how to make this work and get it together. And now, here it is: a good picture of my spider web! Straight from the workings of my imagination... I guess you could say it's one of the spiderwebs from inside my head....(ha.. ha..sorry that was lame)

Anyway, no pattern was used for this so it is a 100% original design of my own. It got raves at the family halloween party two weekends ago - my mom says she HAS to have one and my grandma loved it!

Next up I have a couple new pendants with, at the very least, 3 more in the works. If these sell well, I'll get some more of my "secret finding" and make more! Here's a couple of 'quick' pictures, I'll try to get more when the lighting cooperates more or when my sister comes over... she'll like playing with my camera haha.

And one last note, I went to check on my kids last night(actually this morning about 2-ish) before I went to sleep and this is what I found. We let them sleep in my son's bed together and they went to sleep surprisingly fast! They also slept really well!

Ok... so I did the update on the weekend, now for the promised review of the tutu from Maggiesrosegarden!!

Here it is on my daughter! There was even a wand sent with it to match but my daughter kept throwing it at her brother or leaving it in random places - they were so cute though!! I got it in the mail last wednesday and she saw it, got excited, and HAD to have it on! Not 5 minutes after I put it on, a lady that was driving by stopped, backed up, and said she LOVED it! My son would even help her keep her "magic". If she dropped the wand he'd say "OH NO!! Sister dropped her magic!!!" and run and pick it up. At the Halloween events they had for the kids they absolutely loved her tutu and we got so many compliments in the hallway I don't know that I was even able to acknowledge them all!

All in all, TUTU cute!!! I love it! and I would definitely refer maggiesrosegarden to a friend! or all of them!

Next order of business, here's my son's halloween costume:

Nothing fancy, but it worked. He insisted on the Speed Racer hat. Next year, we're definitely making costumes...

Anyway, It was actually neat to wear something like that that I made and get so many compliments - two ladies even asked for my information so they could order someday *maybe - we'll see if they really do* I was wishing I had my business cards already but they still have another 2-3 weeks to get here =/ that's ok though!

My mom even wants me to make some kind of flower for a craft table fundraiser thing they're doing at her work for an associate in need, something to get the word out even more.

Anyway, my to-do list hasn't changed much other than these updates. I'm taking the patterns to my mom's house tonight to show her at our Sunday dinner. One of my sisters is even excited to see them. hehe. I haven't had a chance to talk to any of the others yet lol.

And now I've run out of things to talk about... for now anyway.

We're home!! We survived!!..... First, rundown on the weekend

I'm not sure where to start off on this one... guess I could give you a rundown of the weekend. Thursday night I stayed up until 3 packing everything. Woke up at 6 Friday... yeah... I was in a good mood*NOT*. But the kids weren't cranky when they got woke up then either so that was a good thing. That and they both slept almost the whole way up to Park City.

So blah blah blah... we get up there in one piece(barely) and when we get to the lobby to check in the jerk by the door tells us to go alllll the way down to the parking garage and just park... wow... I'm impressed already... let's make a pregnant woman (who, by the way, was already having problems and contractions, probably in part due to fatigue, exhaustion, etc etc, not to mention the life threatening drive on the way up) walk all the way to the lobby... good job jerks...

Not only that, but 3 hours of sleep that night, 3 hours of sleep the night before, I was hungry, tired, more like exhausted, possibly fatigued... and I had NO EFFING CLUE what the HELL was going on and what we were supposed to do and go and etc etc etc... grr...

So we check in. Ground floor room... kind of near the lobby, right by the elevators. this is both good and bad. Good, because I don't have to walk 5 miles to get to elevators/lobby/etc etc... bad because... the room sucked... pretty much bad words... we walked in and I was like wow... this gets better and better... let's see.. where to start.

2 beds, on which the "comforters" were ratty looking and you could tell they were worn out. a tv. a desk. a dresser, 2 night stands, 2 lamps, one of which is defective and works when it wants to. a view of... the delivery bay... woo...hoo.

The bathroom... no bathtub. In fact, we're pretty positive we got a handicap room, because it wasn't even like a regular shower in a hotel room. It was like the whole floor of the bathroom was the floor of the shower... the coffee maker was on the bathroom sink which pretty much left room for... NOTHING else! It was an adventure getting ready for the banquet, that's for sure. Oh yeah - another thing that tipped us off that it was a handicap room - there was a bench in the shower... JUST BECAUSE I'M PREGNANT DOES NOT MEAN I'M DISABLED!! It was nice to sit down during a shower though without just about popping the baby out getting up... however a BATH would have been AWESOME!! In fact, that would have been the ONE thing that would have made the room ok. *sigh*

So anyway, we get some of our stuff in the room and then go to breakfast/brunch/lunch with our friends. The burger joint we went to was pretty good - I can't remember the name of it, but the burgers tasted like REAL MEAT!!! And you pick what you want on the burgers. Anyway, we hurry eating because the guys have to be in a class, and my friend and I have to go back home to get some stuff that they forgot. We ended up getting lost a little bit which took away from precious time - we had to be back at a certain time for a class thing or whatever that she had to go to(we made it back on time with 15 minutes to spare).

All the classes that would have been even remotely significant to me were during the time that we had to run back home. So I waited in the room with the kids until the meet and greet thing which was in reality just a small awards thing with pizza and soda(yay i got a dr pepper) and the pizza wasn't that good, cold, and gave me instant heartburn. woohoo... the kids were in the child care though so it was ok. I think that was the last thing of that day except that we went and picked up the kids from child care and went to our friends' room to hang out until the kids got so cranky it was impossible to hold off bedtime any longer. Not that they went to bed when we went to our room... no they stayed up until 1...

DAY 2

YAY we got to sleep in(the kids and I did anyway haha)!!! It was a pretty chill day for me and the kids. We pretty much just stayed in the room and I got ready for the banquet as I felt like it. I threw together a pair of pearl and moonstone earrings in about 5 minutes right before we left, and my dress and lily hairstick got lots of compliments so that felt good. I even had a couple of women ask for information from me so they can order!! *maybe* We'll see what happens there. The banquet got over an hour late(go figure) and then there was a "ball" after... that they wanted everyone in their civilian street clothes for... so it wasn't even a ball. it was a drunken party... ugh... i stayed in the room and put the kids to bed while my husband went and supposedly was bored there...

DAY 3

YAY wake up, pack, go home!!! Is it sad that I'm more excited to LEAVE Park City than to go?? So here I am!

My Project List

Ok... I think this is mainly to get my thoughts in order, but here goes the project list! These are things on my project list that I want to try out and a couple that I have tried out.

Once again, go figure, I can't find the cord to upload the pictures from my camera to my computer... This time it's my fault. I just cleaned and set it somewhere I *thought* I would remember... so, pictures do exist, I just gotta find my cord!

SOOO the list!

Priorities being:
1. Dawnberries' French Beaded wedding flowers!
1a. Lily(check!!!)
1b. Lilac corsage(waiting on firemountain supplies...)
1c. Rose corsage(waiting until after Halloween weekend)
1d. Gardenia headpiece (waiting until after Halloween weekend)
2. Lily hairstick for formal banquet/ball over Halloween weekend(waiting for firemountain supplies)

After this weekend, production starts full force! I should have a lot less stress than the last couple weeks and I'm looking forward to getting these projects done!

Now for the projects that are waiting until the priorities are done...

1. French Beaded Christmas tree
2. Beaded Christmas ornament covers(and possibly other holidays for those who do ornaments for other holidays like my grandma)
3. More gemstone pendants like this, this, this, and this.
4. More necklaces and bracelets and earrings.
5. Christmas dress for my daughter(one of the top two on the right side, the ones with the longer sleeves. Not sure which one yet and not sure what fabric! I want to make them to match one of these bows - this, this, or this - from SMOX)
6. Stuffed dragons, also from Simplicity, just because they looked awesome and I love dragons!
7. Playing with clay! I got some sculpey and premo I can't wait to try out!

I'm sure I've forgotten a couple "to-dos" but that's ok. Any other projects that come up are sure to be mentioned in future blogs!

And last, but not least, my most recently finished project as of right now and until my firemountain supplies come(hopefully soon because I desperately need a shower but don't want to get in the shower and miss the fedex guy), is this beaded spiderweb wreath. I must say I'm kind of proud of how that turned out... It's my own design, I didn't use any patterns whatsoever, and it got so many WOW!!!s at the family Halloween party last week that I am thinking I really need to make more... when I have time...

Not only that, but my mom is insisting that she HAS to have one and my grandma wants one too! My mom also said she could see people paying upwards of $75 for this!! I'm not sure about that, but that would so totally rock! I did just get better pictures of the wreath but like I said before... when I need it, go figure I can't find my cord...

I feel like I should type more but not sure what to type. I think I've left you with enough to read as it is! LOL

Upcoming blogs: an update on how this Halloween weekend's Army banquet/ball/training convention will go, including a product review for this pumpkin tutu from Maggiesrosegarden on Etsy! intro to my blog - Hello!

Hello! Welcome to my first blog on Blogger. I guess I'll start out telling a little bit about me and what I'm about.

My name is Brigette, I am a 21-almost-22 year old stay at home mom of 2, almost 3 kids. The 22 part comes in November, the #3 child comes in January(girl, for those who care). My husband is in the US Army and is an Army Reserve Recruiter here in Utah.

I'm a pretty open person and will answer almost any question, to the best of my ability.

I love to craft and create, and have quite a few different crafts that I do just for fun. I also have an Etsy.com store to sell these crafts in - TannerCustomCraft.etsy.com for any interested. Please have a look and pass the word on if you see something you like! Check back often as well as I have quite a few upcoming projects that I've been told I need to do more of HAHA!

My kids (ages 3.5 and 1.5) like to try to help me, which, if you have kids you know that usually ends up being very much the opposite at their young age, so therefore my productive time is usually after 8:30 - 9 pm after they are in bed.

I make what I want, when I want, unless I have a custom order, then that order takes priority over my other projects. I love to try new things, as long as it's something that catches my interest, which is why I have so many crafts under my belt.
